Their were police officers waiting for the
bus to arrive with the blacks on it.
The blacks ran into the school with racial
chants towards them. In the future the chants
stopped and the blacks and whites were in
school together.
Why weren't the police hard on the angry
crowd when the blacks arrived?

Not only did white parents hate the desegregation, but the children did to. They called derogatory names and threw glass bottles. No one wanted black children in southern Boston.

Even after the desegregation of schools, schools in Boston remained segregated and not equal. The African American schools lacked permanent teachers and basic supplies and furniture which made black parents angry and led to them expressing this anger it to the School Committee. The School Committee just denied these statements forcing parents to sue them to ensure equal rights for their children, the School Committee decided to finally integrate the schools. This caused an an uproar in threats and violence with many angry and fearful parents.
